SPAR Weekly Meal Plan 2026: Seven Days from the Leaflet

Short answer: A SPAR meal plan starts on Wednesday evening. Read the leaflet, pick three or four discounted main ingredients, build five or six dishes that share them, leave a day for leftovers. Two people land at 55 to 65 euro a week.

SPAR, EUROSPAR or INTERSPAR

What makes SPAR distinctive for planning

  • Austria's densest store network. In many municipalities SPAR is the only shop, so the plan has to work without a second stop.
  • Regional produce as a focus. SPAR Natur pur for organic, plus regional suppliers flagged in the leaflet.
  • S-Budget as the entry price line. Covers pasta, rice, flour, tinned goods and dairy at close to discounter prices.
  • Deep fresh promotions. Meat and vegetables run in short, sharp markdowns.

The downside: base prices sit above HOFER. Shopping SPAR without a list costs a good twenty percent more for the same week.

Example week for two

Say the leaflet has: chicken breast 1 kg (€8.99), minced meat 500 g (€4.29), potatoes 2 kg (€2.79), carrots 1 kg (€1.49), courgettes 1 kg (€2.49), mushrooms 400 g (€1.99), natural yoghurt 500 g (€1.19), tinned tomatoes 3-pack (€1.99).

WednesdayLeftovers with yoghurt dipyoghurt

Roughly €55 to €65, including a share of pantry items like oil, onions, pasta, rice and spices. About €4.30 per portion.

Potatoes run through three dishes, tinned tomatoes through two. That overlap is the saving.

The SPAR-specific trap

Between S-Budget and branded goods sits the SPAR own brand in the middle price band. It is convenient and rarely the cheapest choice. Two rules:

  1. S-Budget for anything cooked rather than tasted. Flour, rice, pasta, tinned tomatoes, oil.
  2. Brands only in the leaflet. Otherwise own brand, otherwise nothing.

Status in Flyva

In Austria Flyva currently reads the HOFER, BILLA and BILLA PLUS leaflets. SPAR, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR already appear in the app's store finder, marked coming soon.

Until then the method works manually: leaflet on Thursday, three or four main ingredients, force the overlap. For an automatically built plan today, start with HOFER or BILLA.

Bottom line

SPAR is the shop hardly anyone in Austria avoids, especially outside cities. It is not the cheapest, but with S-Budget underneath and leaflet discipline on top, a week for two lands at 55 to 65 euro.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SPAR, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR?

SPAR is the neighbourhood shop with about 8,000 items, often in the village or town centre. EUROSPAR is the mid-size format on the edge of town with a broader fresh range. INTERSPAR is the hypermarket with non-food, deli counters and a restaurant. All three publish their own leaflets.

When does the SPAR leaflet start?

It switches on Thursday and runs to Wednesday. On top of that there are short fresh-produce promotions and discounts in the SPAR app that must be activated before shopping.

What does a SPAR week cost for two people?

Planning around the leaflet, two people land at roughly 55 to 65 euro for seven dinners. SPAR sits above HOFER on base prices but compensates with deep fresh promotions and a dense store network.

Does Flyva cover SPAR yet?

Not yet. SPAR, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR appear in the app's store finder marked as coming soon. In Austria, Flyva currently reads the HOFER, BILLA and BILLA PLUS leaflets.

Is SPAR worth it next to a discounter?

Outside cities, often yes, because SPAR is frequently the nearest shop and the detour to a discounter costs time and fuel. In cities SPAR works as a second shop for fresh and regional produce while the base stays at the discounter.
