Meal planning around the Giant weekly ad
Two different grocery companies use the Giant name, and each prints its own ad. Giant Food, based in Landover, Maryland, runs stores in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington, D.C. The GIANT Company, based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, runs Giant and Martin's stores mainly in Pennsylvania, plus parts of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Both belong to Ahold Delhaize, and both weekly ads run Friday through Thursday. Giant Eagle is an unrelated chain. Once you have the right ad, plan around its meat deals. A sale on ground beef can become meatballs in marinara on Saturday and a tray of stuffed peppers on Tuesday.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Giant Food the same as The GIANT Company?
- No. Giant Food, often called Giant-Landover, serves Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and D.C. The GIANT Company, or Giant-Carlisle, serves Pennsylvania and nearby states under the Giant and Martin's names. Ahold Delhaize owns both, but each keeps its own local merchandising and weekly ad. Flyva picks the right one from your ZIP code, so you see the ad for the Giant near you.
- When do Giant weekly ads start?
- Friday, for both companies. The Giant Food ad in the D.C. area and The GIANT Company ad in Pennsylvania each last one week and end on Thursday. The items and prices differ between them, so make sure the ad you read matches the store where you shop. The valid dates are printed on each ad.
- What is in the Giant weekly ad for the week of Oct 19?
- Flyva reads the current Giant ad and keeps the food items. The board at the top of this page shows this week's deals with their prices. In the app, those deals turn into a week of dinners and one shopping list.
